The Counter Culture Guide

Each month, GuilFin provided a free guide to alternative events, festivals and so-called DIY or counter culture. Covering environmental, health and social justice issues, it was considered essential reading for those keen on the ‘free festival’ scene.

Keeping party people happy and informed with what was happening politically the basic idea behind GuilFin, which I started with my artist brother Thayen.

The GuilFin concept then spread and converged with the festivals themselves to produce relaxation zones with massaging tones ~ of sound, light and liquid refreshment ~ which became known as the GuilFin Ambient Lounge. This 24hour performance venue regularly toured UK festivals including Glastonbury and GuilFest.

I also co-produced gigs and other events (see examples of flyers shown on this page) which ultimately led to making a green field festival happen – the Ambient Green Picnic – with many creative and talented friends who together became known as the Coalition.

We are currently working on a comprehensive GuilFin Media website that will show archive copies of the publication, related events and social justice campaigns we supported and links to the unique artwork. I will update this page when that website is complete in 2022.
